Huisman is delivering two 3D-printed crane hooks, which will be used in the maritime and offshore industries, for OOS International.
After load testing at more than double the safe working load (SWL), the first 3D-printed hooks were certified for offshore use according to ABS standards.
OOS Serooskerke will be the first vessel fitted with the equipment, while its sister vessel OOS Walcheren will be equipped with a 36-tonne capacity 3D-printed crane hook shortly after.
Both hooks have been produced at Huisman’s facility in the Czech Republic.
“Delivering these class-certified 3D-printed hooks to an end client is an important step in developing industry acceptance for 3D-printed products for the maritime and offshore industry,” said Huisman.
