Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has appointed Flavio Batista as chief commercial officer (cco) and Rob Dooley as chief financial officer (cfo), effective July 1, 2024.
It follows the retirement of cfo Michaela Thompson and cco Cliff Pyron with the latter moving to an advisor role within the organisation.
Batista became vice president of sales and marketing at GPA in January 2023 after leaving ro-ro shipping specialist Wallenius Wilhelmsen. Meanwhile, Dooley joined GPA in August 2023 as senior director of finance, having previously worked in both the public and private sector for the likes of Northrup Grunman.
With a potential USD4.5 billion investment planned for the port, Batista will lead international marketing, business development, and commercial performance toward beneficial cargo owners, ocean carriers, ro-ro carriers, auto manufacturers, and non-containerised trade and supply chain partners.
