GAC South Africa has opened its fifth branch in the country to provide shipping services at Port Elizabeth and its neighbouring port Ngqura, in the Coega Industrial Development Zone.
GAC, which previously served customers in the region through an agent, will provide its range of shipping, logistics and complementary services for oil and gas projects as well as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shipments.
According to GAC, it is expanding its operations in response to a growing demand for its services.
"Increasing our presence to include Port Elizabeth allows us to offer a complete package of integrated services for all types of business at the port," said Eric Barnard, managing director for GAC Shipping.
Services provided include ship agency, husbandry, bunker fuel supplies, offshore support, dry-docking and project logistics, as well as lay-ups and repairs for rigs and vessels calling at Ngqura.
