Henry Forster will become Fährhafen Sassnitz’s managing director from January 1, 2025.
A decision was approved by Fährhafen Sassnitz’s shareholders, the town of Sassnit, and the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in northeast Germany.
From Sassnitz, Forster has extensive experience in developing and transforming the energy performance of companies and industrial sites, including Nehlsen in Bremen and GOA in Baden-Württemberg.
Forster will succeed long-time managing director Harm Sievers, who retired on September 30, 2024. Fridjof Ostenberg, the company’s former authorised signatory and head of the legal department, has been serving as acting managing director since Sievers’ retirement.
Fährhafen Sassnitz is the port operator of Mukran Port, which has been used to service the offshore wind industry as a base port in recent years. In 2017, it opened up Berth 10 to expand the project and heavy lift business there.
