Finland-based dry bulk specialist ESL Shipping has appointed Juha Ylitalo as head of renewable energy and project transportation, effective November 1.
The appointment supports ESL Shipping’s goal of gaining a larger role in renewable energy logistics. A former captain and with a broad experience in shipping, Ylitalo has played a central role in maritime logistics for the first Finnish offshore wind farm in Tahkoluoto.
During his career, he has served various key players within maritime logistics, most recently Rauma Cata as head of sales and engineering of project shipments.
“[The] renewable energy sector grows fast in our home market,” said Timo Pohjakallio, development director and head of BU Handies at ESL Shipping. “The sector will demand various maritime logistics solutions such as groundworks, component deliveries and farm maintenance and service. A new type of technological and commercial thinking will be required and our ambition is to be in the front of this development.”
