Enerpac has acquired Madrid-based DTA The Smart Move SA, a designer and manufacturer of mobile robotic solutions.
The EUR24 million (USD26.7 million) acquisition is part of Enerpac Tool Group’s strategy of adding automated on-site horizontal movement products to its heavy-lifting technology portfolio. It also capitalises on the trend towards greater automation in manufacturing and other industrial processes.
DTA products include automatic guided vehicles (AGV) and automated mobile robotics (ARM). With a load capacity of 10 tonnes, AGVs offer a variety of guiding systems: wire-guided, magnetic-guided, optical-guided, artificial vision and laser.
In addition, DTA supplies compact heavy-duty electric transporters with a load capacity of up to 600 tonnes for in-factory moves. Together, with 100 tonne load capacity self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) with wireless operation, and industrial drawbar trailers.
The DTA products will expand the role of Enerpac’s heavy lifting and factory moves, as well as solutions in existing vertical markets, including rail, wind, infrastructure, aerospace and nuclear.
