DP World Yarımca Port and Evyap Group’s Evyapport have formed a new combined operation, DP World Evyap, in a bid to to boost trade through the Turkish gateways.
The companies said that the merger, which has received regulatory approval from the Turkish Competition Authority, brings together the strengths of two major ports on the Marmara Sea to create a new international logistics hub. DP World will assume a 58 percent stake in Evyapport, with Evyap Group taking a 42 percent share of DP World Yarimca.
The ports will be rebranded as DP World Evyap Yarımca and DP World Evyap Körfez, respectively.
DP World said that customers will benefit from faster turnaround times, access to project and heavy lift cargo services, and a wider range of expertise. The partnership will produce a combined 2,088 m of berthing space and an annual container handling capacity that surpasses 2 million teu. Cargo journeys will be optimised by access to advanced road and rail links and accelerated turnaround times.
DP World offers experience in container handling, customs brokerage and bonded warehouse services. Evyapport’s expertise is in container, liquid bulk and general cargo operations.
