June 20 - Cargo 2000, the air cargo industry quality standard, has announced that DB Schenker Logistics has reached Platinum membership, one of only two logistics providers and five carriers in the world having reached this classification.
Cargo 2000 brings together more than 80 major airlines, forwarders, and third parties in air freight and is a self funded non-profit industry group with the mission to create and implement the quality standard and management system for the worldwide air cargo industry. It is considered as the deepest and most far-reaching quality improvement initiative in the air cargo's history.
The Cargo 2000 membership classification consists of four levels, from "Member" via "Silver" and "Gold" to "Platinum". It is based on a points system that objectively measures a company's integration of Cargo 2000 into its daily business processes.
Thomas Mack, senior vice president and head of global air freight at Schenker AG, said: "It shows how seriously we take increasing the quality of air cargo processes internally and externally. Cargo 2000 is one of our daily internal measurement tools in place to facilitate, enhance and maintain our high quality standards."
