Royal Boskalis Westminster has received a letter of award from Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MHB) for the transportation and installation of an offshore platform for the Bakor central processing platform redevelopment project in Malaysia.
The topside will be constructed at MHB’s yard in Malaysia and skidded onto an open-stern heavy transport vessel.
For the purpose of this project, an existing vessel in Boskalis’ fleet will be fitted withdynamic positioning (DP2) capabilities, allowing it to work in close proximity to offshore structures. The project is due to be executed in 2020.
Boskalis has also been awarded a logistical management transport contract. The scope of the contract includes the transportation of modules from a fabrication yard in Asia to a plant being developed in North America.
As part of the project, two of Boskalis’ open-stern heavy transport vessels will be utilised for approximately 475 days each. The project is expected to begin in late 2019.
The two contracts have a combined value of approximately USD65 million, says Boskalis.
