February 20 - Chipolbrok has signed a contract with Shanghai Shipyard for the construction of four 32,000 dwt heavy lift vessels, for delivery to the company in 2015 and 2016.
The newbuildings, which are designed for the carriages of heavy lift and project cargoes, will be 190 m long and 28 m wide, with three holds allowing carriage of long and awkward units under deck.
Three cranes will be installed onboard, with a maximum combined lifting capacity of 700 tonnes, and the vessels will also feature new economic Wartsila engines, which will allow daily consumption of below 30 tonnes of fuel.
With the entry of the newbuildings to Chipolbrok's service, the Szymanowski/Jiaxing type older vessels will be withdrawn from duty.
