January 9 - Cyprus-based offshore installation contractor Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) has announced that after 20 years of service, Martin Spaans, ceo, has decided to leave the company.

Also, offshore engineering firm Subsea 7 - 50 percent owner of SHL - has announced that it will consolidate its Renewable Energy division into its partner company.

The merger will enable SHL to leverage Subsea 7's engineering and project management expertise, whilst simplifying Subsea 7's offering to the renewables market, a statement said.

As a result of the organisational changes, Jan Willem van der Graaf, Subsea 7's senior vice president renewable energy, has been appointed the new ceo of SHL with immediate effect.

Bob Dunsmore, formerly Subsea 7's vice president renewables, will join the SHL management team.
