Cadeler – formerly Swire Blue Ocean – has secured a contract for the transport and installation of Siemens Gamesa wind turbines.
Siemens awarded Cadeler the contact, which is worth approximately USD90 million, with an additional USD30 million in options, said Cadeler. The company added that it is the largest contract in its history.
The project will see Cadeler transport and install SG 14-222 DD turbines. The 14 MW capacity turbines with 108 m-long blades will stand 252 m above sea level.
Cadeler said the turbines are expected to be the largest in the world at the time of installation.
Mikkel Gleerup, ceo of Cadeler, said: “Boundaries in terms of size and capacity are being pushed constantly in our industry, and we are constantly evolving to be able to support our clients continuously throughout this development.
“With the crane upgrades for our fleet and our planned newbuild X-class vessel, we can do just that,” Gleerup added.
