Gerson Sporkslede has been named general manager of Blue Water Suriname.
The operation will deliver transport and logistics solutions for the oil and gas, chemical, mining and renewable energy sectors, with services ranging from international freight forwarding, offshore and onshore logistics support, through to vessel agencies, Customs brokerage, materials management, and customised IT solutions.
“We are delighted to welcome Gerson Sporkslede as the leader of our newly established local office. With his extensive experience in Suriname’s logistics industry and his track record with global carriers, he brings valuable local and international expertise to our team,” said Lucas Strom, regional director Americas.
Blue Water’s decision to expand further into the Caribbean, specifically in Suriname, is driven by the recent discovery of additional oil fields in the region. “We are embarking on an exciting project in Suriname, building on our successful operation in Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago. The substantial developments in our existing Caribbean offices have a clear extension into Suriname. With the new office, we can apply lessons learned into providing proven logistic solutions in Suriname,” added Strom.
