The new three-day breakbulk, ro-ro and heavy lift project cargo event, AntwerpXL, is readying for its inaugural show, which takes place from May 7-9 this year at the Antwerp Expo.
The event, organised by Easyfairs, aims to create a platform for specialist logisticians to meet, network, innovate and do business.
Easyfairs told HLPFI that representatives from thyssenkrupp, BP, Tata Steel, DHL, XPO Logistics, Caterpillar, British Steel and Siemens have registered to attend the event, which is supported by the port of Antwerp as host sponsor. Other sponsors include Fednav, BBC Chartering and RHB Stevedoring.
“Antwerp has been the European home of conventional breakbulk, ro-ro and heavy lift project cargo for so long now, it is just synonymous with this industry,” said Mark Rimmer, divisional director at Easyfairs and event director of AntwerpXL.
“Our long-term plan through AntwerpXL is to help shape the future of breakbulk, ro-ro and heavy lift, and build an event back in Antwerp that truly serves the market, is cost effective, and delivers return on investment for all involved,” he added.
The exhibition will run alongside a conference programme featuring debates, roundtables and interactive panels. AntwerpXL claims that this will offer a platform for decision-makers to share knowledge, learn from industry experts and enjoy networking opportunities.
Bob Delbecque, international motivator and business coach, will open proceedings with a panel interview and keynote talk, focusing on helping organisations to improve and transform their business models, implement new strategies and invigorate employees in challenging times.
Delegates at the event will also be able to gain access to the ISO-accredited PPG Education Programme.
