Interoil and Saipem have contracted ALP Maritime Services to provide tow assistance and heading control services for the Kaombo field development project, located in Block 32, offshore Angola.
ALP will be responsible for tow-assist operations from Southeast Asia to West Africa using two of its 300-tonne capacity bollard pull ALP Future-class vessels.
On arrival in Angola, the Future-class vessels will be joined by three additional vessels from the ALP fleet to keep the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit, Kaombo Norte, stationary during connection to its mooring lines.
After the mooring operations, ALP says two of the vessels will continue to support the riser pull-in operation.
