The Overland Transport Provider of the Year was once again a hotly contended category, with our judges having to make some difficult decisions to separate the candidates. Taking home the trophy was Prism Logistics.
The finalists included Allelys, which showcased its role in delivering 142 components from five different port locations to support the Slough Multifuel expansion project; Çaba & Misnak’s project transporting 130 out-of-gauge cargoes from Mersin port to a polyester plant construction project; CJ ICM’s handling of 61 heavy lift cargoes – including 604-tonne absorbers – for a major project in Uzbekistan; and J M Baxi Heavy’s delivery of 23,000 tonnes of offshore modules for the Bombay High offshore field.
Also making it on to the shortlist was Laso Transportes for the transport of renewable energy cargoes, including blades measuring up to 82 m, for the Barão De S. João wind farm in the Algarve, and Mammoet, which handled 35 heavy items (ranging in weight from 130 tonnes to 517 tonnes) for the construction of a power plant in the city of Shirin.
The winning entry from Prism Logistics wowed our judges by the enormity of the project, the cargo sizes and the distances covered, overcoming several obstacles and challenges to ensure success. The company was tasked with operating in heavily populated areas to deliver 34 over-dimensional cargoes from Hazira Dahej and Mangalore to Pachpadra in Barmer, Rajasthan for Larsen & Toubro. The landmark project involved handling a unit tipping the scales at 743 tonnes, constructing roads, 40 bypasses and a jetty in Mundra.
