HLPFI reviews the shortlisted entries for the 2024 Ship Operator of the Year award, sponsored by Trans Global Projects Group (TGP).

This award is presented to a carrier that has demonstrated its ability to successfully and efficiently support the movement of heavy and oversize project cargoes around the world by sea in the past 12 months.

AAL Shipping

AAL Singapore power station components

AAL Singapore completed the transport of power station components from China and Japan to Queensland, Australia.

2024 marks a milestone year for AAL Shipping as it realises its long-term strategy to offer the market a young and dynamic fleet with the delivery of its third newbuilding programme. AAL Limassol was the first to hit water, taking on barges, blades, trucks, transformers, modules and a dismantled crane on her first sailing – a testament to the capability, flexibility and range of cargoes AAL Shipping caters to. AAL’s entry also focused on its commitment to ESG and investment in its people.

 

JSI Alliance

The JSI Alliance transported a total of 450,000 freight tons for the Basrah Refinery upgrading project in Iraq.

JSI Alliance’s application emphasises its commitment to safety, environmental standards, efficient fleet management and innovative technologies. The alliance formed by Jumbo, SAL and Intermarine operates more than 60 versatile vessels, including modern heavy lift vessels and semi-submersible deck carriers. In addition, the new Orca-class vessels, scheduled for delivery in Q4 2024, underline the commitment to renewable energy and are equipped with environmentally friendly features. Recent major projects, such as the Basrah Refinery upgrading project, are a testament to the company’s performance in the industry.
