Alexander Eberharter has taken over the management of the west region of Gebrüder Weiss, succeeding Hannes Mayr.
Mayr – now 65 years old – has been with the international transport and logistics company for 41 years and has held various management positions in his hometown of Tyrol, Austria, as well as becoming director of the west region in 2018.
The west region of the company comprises the Austrian states of Vorarlberg and Tyrol, plus Switzerland. The Austrian states of Salzburg and Carinthia were added to the region at the beginning of 2024.
“Hannes Mayr and his team have made a significant contribution to the success of Gebrüder Weiss in our home region. Thanks to his commitment and professionalism, we continue to be the number one logistics partner for the majority of industrial and commercial companies,” said Wolfram Senger-Weiss, ceo of Gebrüder Weiss.
Mayr also acted as chairman of the examination board for forwarding agents, where he passed on his knowledge to generations of apprentices for decades. He also advocated the interests of the industry in the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce as chairman of the freight forwarding and logistics section.
Eberharter has been with Gebrüder Weiss for 22 years and has held multiple managerial positions too, including serving as lead the company’s strategic business development in Germany. He is now responsible for 1,100 employees at 25 logistics locations, with expansion planned at six in the coming years.
“The local economies in the western region are very different, but they do have one thing in common: industrial and commercial companies need a logistics provider nearby that gives them access to a global transportation network with high-quality standards,” said Eberharter.
