Sarens has completed the installation of a footbridge at the UK’s Manchester Airport as part of the gateway’s GBP1 billion (USD1.28 billion) modernisation programme.
The 85-tonne bridge links the airport’s new multi-storey car park with terminal two. SPMTs, two Liebherr LTM 1160 mobile cranes, plus an LTM 1750, were used to complete the installation works.
Sarens’ project manager, Alister Smith, said: "The 85-tonne footbridge was positioned with the SPMTs and LTM 1160s before the main crane arrived. The LTM 1750 lifted the 45 m-long bridge to a height of 8 m to finally position it precisely between the two buildings.
"Safety was key for the project due to its close proximity to the live airport but our crew completed the job safely in four days,” he added.
